Next Generation Sequencing (NGS)

What is Next-Generation Sequencing (NGS)?

Next-Generation Sequencing (NGS), also known as high-throughput sequencing, is a cytogenetic technology that enables sequencing of multiple regions of the genome in a single assay. Compared to the “traditional” or Sanger sequencing method, Next-Generation Sequencing allows for sequencing at higher coverage levels. This is referred to as deep sequencing. Deep sequencing results in greater confidence for calling low-frequency variants.

Genetics Associates Next-Generation Sequencing Panels

Genetics Associates has created targeted Next-Generation Sequencing panels. These panels are designed to detect: mutationssubstitutions, insertions, and deletions. This is significant because these variants may have diagnostic, prognostic, and/or therapeutic implications in hematologic malignancies. Hematologic malignancies are tumors that impact the blood (bone marrow) and/or lymphatic systems.

Contact Genetics Associates today to learn more information about our Next-Generation Sequencing (NGS) panels. Our cytogenetic laboratory is located in Nashville, TN, but we can provide testing to those located in other states as well.
